Sunday Morning ER visit {Caleb}

Friday Caleb was pushed over during gym. He played in the snow Friday night and built a snowman. Then Saturday he woke up complaining about his leg. I half-heartedly sympathized and told him it would be fine after he got moving around. It didn't though, and by the end of the day he was not moving it at all. He tried to get in the bathtub, and couldn't. Ryan had to help him in and out. I slept by him, and he even woke in the night crying about how much it hurt.
Sunday morning I took him into the ER. He was so nervous. He was so afraid that they would make him take his pants off to look at his hip. He was sure that would be the most embarrassing thing ever to happen in his little life. After much assuring that I wouldn't leave his side and that if they truly did have to look at his hip they would make sure he was modest, I finally convinced him to go. But no worries, they never even looked at it with their eyes.

As we were sitting there waiting, the guy in the next room was talking with his doctor. It was so loud, it felt like we were in the room with him. Apparently this older gentleman couldn't urinate and was in a lot of pain. We heard the doctor say..."we are going to insert this catheter into your penis." Caleb's eyes got so big and he just turned white. I tried to explain to him in a quick anatomy lesson, as quietly as I could, all about the bladder and urethera, and how it could get blocked and what a catheter was and what they were going to do with the catheter. He calmed a little when he understood that this would help this poor man, but got even more alarmed when the doctor said he couldn't get the catheter in and they were going to put a camera up to see just what the constriction was.
I don't think I will ever forget the look on his face when he heard the doctor say that. I am sure that the visual for a little 10 year old boy of a camera going up there was traumatizing. So again I had to explain how tiny the camera was and how it would help the doctor. But he was directing the nurse in how to help, and the comments were quite descriptive. What a explicit lesson for such a little boy. The best part was that after they took his X-ray, they were wheeling him back to the exam "room" (three walls with a curtain) and we passed the guy.He had a massive bag of urine at the end of his bed. Caleb saw it and he said "Yeah, that was a lot of pee, that would really hurt!"

The diagnosis for him...He had no break that they could see, but were quite concerned with how much pain he was in. When the doctor pushed up on his knee Caleb flinched and immediately huge alligator tears formed on his cheeks. He was concerned that there may be a fracture in the growth plate that didn't show up and we have to follow up the end of the week with another X-ray. Here's hoping that nothing more serious than a deep bruise is wrong, and that we don't have to return for another lesson in urology!

*Biting*~Annalee~

Annalee has a problem with biting! She bites everyone and everything.
I was in reading tonight and I overheard Caleb lecturing Annalee saying
..."baby, crayons are not edible. We only eat edible things. Crayons are not edible, momy is not edible, Noah is not edible, I am not edible...neither are socks!"

Funny thing is, I have even found her teeth marks in the bar of soap.

One of the kids got a bag of marbles and Sam cut it open and put it on Annalee's head. She looked like a little Hutterite baby. Sam thought is was so funny.

I am also not sure about the face he always pulls now when he is getting his picture taken. He thinks it is cool or something. I think he looks...well, not so great, but I was told I am just old. I guess maybe I am.

Oh Yes She Can! {Annalee}

I got out her stroller and she walked for a while, then I took it away and gave her a phone....
and she stood!
Stinker!
Sam was my only other one who walked this early, and Caleb had to have something in his hands to distract him while he was standing just like Annalee.
I love the learning to walk!

Happy Spring

Of course Spring came in with the best packable snow we have ever had here in Montana.
Snowmans had to be built!

Kids....

Caleb is going to make the best dad!

Wednesday was a crazy day for me... Left at 9:00 to help at the school with Max's and Caleb's class. Left the school at 11:00 to make it to the library for storytime at 11:15. Miss Nola was sick, so no storytime, but our friends were there and Emma went to Evie's house to play while I ran errands. When I was done, we ate lunch at Miller's house then I rushed home to grab Caleb's gym clothes, then off to Paris Gibson Jr. High to see the 4th grade fitness challange. After watching Caleb compete in the pull-ups, sit-ups and pacer challange, we headed to the church. We were late for cub scouts and choir practice. I never got done leading the choir practice until 7:30. I ended choir practice with a massive headache. One that left me unable to see out of my right eye, and feeling very nauseated.
I barely made it home. I put the girls in the bathtub and that was all I had left in me. I crawled into bed and died..(okay, not literally died, but sorta wished I could have) Caleb came in after heating up dinner for him and Max. He got the girls out of the tub, got them in their pajamas, and read them stories until they were asleep (Ryan was still at the church with Sam and Noah)
When I was back alive in the morning, I told Caleb how grateful I was for all he had done and he said "It was actually kinda fun!" Love that Man!

Emma is funny!...
She sings everything. She sings when she is playing, she sings to her dolls, she sings when she is by herself, she sings the menu of dinner...she sings all the time.
This morning Annalee was laying on the dog and pulling her hair. Emma started singing "We have to get along, we can't pull our doggy's hair...get along, get along, get along!" She cracks me up

I love Mara...
...even when she bauls her eyes out because there is a bump in her hair (that I put there intentionally so that her hair wasn't flat to her head on the very top) and the bus is waiting outside and I don't have time to redo it. I think the bus driver must think I beat her every morning. He must think she has a horrible life, but really it is quite happy, she just is very sure about what she wants for her hair, and when I am in a hurry, it doesn't work well. She now gets up 10 minutes before the boys so that I can do her hair and not have tears for the bus driver.( which means I now have to find another time for my scripture study--Oh bother!)

I love Sam...
....especially when he gets detention for being a few seconds (less than 30) late to connections and gets detention. Especially because he was helping another teacher and that is why he was late, and I especially love him because his attitude is so great about it, and he can just laugh it off. Love him!

Love Max
...because he has the best imagination in the world. He has mad NINJA skills that make me laugh. Love that He is constantly jump rolling around every corner and slashing plastic ninja swords in the air. Love that he is mindful of others and watches out for Mara on the bus. He makes me smile everytime he walks into the room.

Noah has this quirky personality...
...he is getting so good at drawing, and if he could just be given a dose of motivation, he would conquer the world. He has really great ideas and is turning into quite the movie star. It is so fun to see him act in the movies the boys have been making since he is so quiet and unassuming and likes to disappear into the background in real life. His new favorite pasttime is sleeping. He loves it. Definately a product of his father, since I think sleep is a waste of time...a necessary evil.

Annalee...
...If you just say her name it sums up all the happiness, love, contentment, and peace imaginable. She is the smile on everyone's face....That about says it all!

Doula Training

Had the best class ever! It was so much fun to meet with girls who are so funny, strong, amazing, dedicated and interested in making birth a non-technological, natural event that empowers women, helps them to be better mommas, and understand the complications with interventions. Had a really good week!

California Pizza Kitchen

While in Utah I got to go out to dinner with all my sisters (minus Kristin-we missed you)
It was so much fun. Sarahs was with us, and we had a great time eating, laughing, having the guy at the table next to us catch Annalee as she fell out of her seat, cleaning up a glass of water that Annalee spilled, eating, and feeding Annalee Maria's grapes from off her salad. Yeah, kinda eventful, could have done without a few of those events, but it was so fun to be together.
Look at that good lookin crew!

Addy's Puppies

Emma is loving those puppies of Addy's. She was so funny with them. She would hold them like a baby and sing to them. I loved watching her with them.
She was sure she would get to take one home. Thing was...darnit they were too little. (and mom said no!)
They were darling though!
While at my parents, I accidentally called Emma, Mara. I said "Mara, go get your pajamas on." Emma looked up at me and said.."Do you mean me?"
Yes sass pants, I do mean you, and you know it.
The mother's curse. My mom always called us all our siblings names, and now I do!
